Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international organization that provides medical care to those in need globally. MSF operates in over 70 countries, offering medical humanitarian assistance without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or politics. Our teams include medical, logistical, and administrative staff, many of whom are local hires working within their communities. MSF USA supports the global movement through staff recruitment, fundraising, advocacy, and communications.

Role Overview

The Executive Intern provides administrative support to the Executive and Association teams at MSF USA, reporting to the Association Coordinator and Board and Executive Liaison Officer. The internship offers practical learning and exposure to international humanitarian work and NGO administration.

Department Accountabilities

  • Leadership and Direction: Inspire and guide others, communicate actions needed, and link to broader organizational mission and strategy.

  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to foster positive working relationships and support program/project delivery.

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: Support and advance D, E, and I principles, representing MSF USA on D, E, and I issues.

  • Operations Management: Execute and manage operations using predetermined protocols and procedures to achieve specified operational performance standards.

  • Organizational Capability Building: Develop organizational capabilities to meet current and future requirements, enabling the organization to achieve its goals and maximize the potential of its people.

  • Board Relationship: Develop and improve relationships with Board members, identifying priorities, issues, and strategic challenges for Board discussion.

Roles Specific Outcomes

  • Internal Communications: Update and maintain materials on the internal Association website, compile content for the newsletter, draft minutes, and maintain the Association Wall.

  • Events Support: Provide administrative and logistical support for the Annual General Assembly and other associative events, including Board meetings.

  • Database and Special Projects: Support the Association team in maintaining and updating database and admin systems for MSF USA association members.

  • Maintain Asana projects and guidelines in coordination with the Executive and Association team.

  • Contribute to other projects as assigned.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • A genuine commitment to MSF's humanitarian principles and general understanding of international current events.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading ability.
  • A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

No travel is required for this position.

$18.00 per hour
