About the role

Oversee the housekeeping and laundry operations of the hotel, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards through continuous visual inspection of guest rooms and public spaces such as restaurants, lounges, and meeting rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, and recommend performance evaluations for housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline or termination when appropriate.
  • Provide clear direction in assigning and instructing staff in work details.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor staff activities to ensure compliance with hotel quality assurance standards.
  • Manage finances, including budget and inventory controls for housekeeping and laundry operations.
  • Analyze data and compile reports on expenditures, wages, labor, and supplies in relation to financial forecasts.
  • Establish and maintain adequate supplies for efficient department operation.
  • Distribute and delegate workload to maximize production and guest satisfaction while minimizing expenses.
  • Monitor house count and adjust staffing accordingly.
  • Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies through training and compliance with hazard communication programs.
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings, and attend related meetings to share and gather pertinent information.
  • Evaluate the condition of furniture, fixtures, and décor, and assist in coordinating rehab projects.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Ability to communicate well with guests.
  • Willingness to assist co-workers with job duties and work as a team player.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements, controls, and applications of relevant chemicals.
  • Familiarity with housekeeping policies, especially those relating to safety and security of guests and hotel property.
  • Basic mathematical skills for preparing moderately complex financial calculations and reporting.
  • Supervisory skills to manage the entire housekeeping operation.
  • Ability to deal effectively with employees, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to coordinate and cooperate with other departments regarding housekeeping services and activities.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move continuously to inspect rooms on all hotel floors.
  • Ability to use a moderately complex computer system for data input and information access.
