Position Summary
The Executive Director (Academic Program Professional 3) will lead the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement at the Stanford Cancer Institute. This role involves directing a multi-level collaborative effort to reduce the overall cancer burden and disparities in the catchment area, working closely with the Associate Director and other leaders to align SCI research with community needs.
Aims of SCI COE
- Understand and monitor the cancer burden
- Develop bidirectional relationships to advance cancer control in the community
- Foster research, including enhancing representation in clinical trials
- Translate research into practice and policy change that promote community health
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership position and managing dynamic teams
- Experience with successful management during periods of transition
- Strong track record in community engagement and outreach, including implementation of evidence-based interventions for cancer prevention and control
- Knowledge of COE expectations and responsibilities as outlined in the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG)
- Collaborative leadership, large network of partnerships, and appreciation for academic institutions' role in cancer control and prevention
- Commitment to professional growth for self and direct reports, including setting goals and evaluating progress
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting to various audiences
- Ability to develop strong cross-functional partnerships and seek out new creative ways to advance strategic objectives
- Proactive problem-solving, ability to see patterns, and ability to manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously
- Personal integrity, accountability, and follow-through
- Ability to make tough decisions and uphold decisions in challenging circumstances
Education & Experience
- Advanced degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience
- Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans
- Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks
- Sometimes use a telephone, write by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds
- Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh > 40 pounds
- Ability to use voice to present information/communication with others
- Occasional overnight travel
Compensation
The expected pay range for this position is $139,741 to $179,496 per annum.
