About the role
The Hospice Executive Director oversees all Florida hospice operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring schedules to maximize operating revenue and improve patient satisfaction
- Encouraging teamwork and cooperation among staff
- Managing daily productivity and operations
- Overseeing staff performance, providing guidance, support, and conflict resolution
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery
- Analyzing operational data to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
- Building relationships with community partners
- Supporting staff development
- Driving performance metrics
- Participating in strategic planning to expand and enhance hospice services
Responsibilities
The Hospice Executive Director is responsible for:
- Providing age-appropriate education and patient care
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
- Developing and implementing strategies to enhance patient satisfaction and operational efficiency
- Working in a diverse, matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
- Using computer software, particularly Microsoft Office, and various applicable software platforms
- Maintaining confidentiality of patients, physicians, and department information
- Working well with others using tact and diplomacy
- Organizing, delegating, and establishing meaningful goals
- Developing leadership competencies in others
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field
- Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of healthcare management experience, at least 2 in hospice
- 7+ years of healthcare experience
- Financial management experience preferred
- Formal process improvement training preferred
- Program administration or development experience preferred
- Project management experience preferred
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
- Driver's License (DL) and Auto Insurance (AL) required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) preferred
- Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) preferred
