About the role

The Hospice Executive Director oversees all Florida hospice operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring schedules to maximize operating revenue and improve patient satisfaction
  • Encouraging teamwork and cooperation among staff
  • Managing daily productivity and operations
  • Overseeing staff performance, providing guidance, support, and conflict resolution
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery
  • Analyzing operational data to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Building relationships with community partners
  • Supporting staff development
  • Driving performance metrics
  • Participating in strategic planning to expand and enhance hospice services

Responsibilities

The Hospice Executive Director is responsible for:

  • Providing age-appropriate education and patient care
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Developing and implementing strategies to enhance patient satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Working in a diverse, matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Using computer software, particularly Microsoft Office, and various applicable software platforms
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patients, physicians, and department information
  • Working well with others using tact and diplomacy
  • Organizing, delegating, and establishing meaningful goals
  • Developing leadership competencies in others

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of healthcare management experience, at least 2 in hospice
  • 7+ years of healthcare experience
  • Financial management experience preferred
  • Formal process improvement training preferred
  • Program administration or development experience preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
  • Driver's License (DL) and Auto Insurance (AL) required
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) preferred
  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) preferred
