About the Role

LEARN Behavioral is seeking an Executive Director of Advocacy to lead the organization’s efforts to improve access to autism services, especially for Medicaid‑covered clients. The role sits at the intersection of mission and policy, shaping legislative and regulatory landscapes while serving as the primary voice for one of the nation’s leading providers of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and autism care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead company initiatives to improve access to care for autistic individuals, partnering with executive management, regional leaders, and third‑party lobbyists.
  • Develop and implement advocacy initiatives in key markets, with a focus on Medicaid programs.
  • Integrate advocacy priorities into broader business strategy and objectives alongside local leadership.
  • Track, analyze, and report on legislation and regulations that could affect access to care, keeping the organization proactive rather than reactive.
  • Build and sustain relationships with external stakeholders—including legislators, regulators, payors, and industry partners.
  • Represent LEARN at forums, conferences, and events, serving as a visible and credible voice for the field.
  • Keep executive management informed on policy developments that could impact the organization.
  • Partner with Payor Relations and Revenue Cycle Management teams on reimbursement‑related issues.
  • Liaise with key industry groups to advance advocacy goals.
  • Travel to key markets and forums as needed to represent LEARN.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in advocacy, government relations, public policy, or a closely related field.
  • Preference for direct experience in the field of ABA.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable advocacy strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders—from clinicians to legislators to payors.
  • Proven track record of working independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to represent LEARN in key markets and forums.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential physical functions of the job, with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem sensitivity—recognizing potential issues without necessarily solving them.
