About the role

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an Executive Director, Capital & Facilities Portfolio to join our Global Technical Services (GTS) organization. This role is critical within GTS, overseeing the capital allocation and approval of over $1 billion of annual capital spend, including all BMS Board-approved capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the BMS capital portfolio across the budget and long-term financial plan (LTFP) timelines, ensuring BMS capital investment deliverables are met in an integrated, predictable, prudent, and value-focused manner.
  • Leverage financial acumen to link project & portfolio outcomes to overall BMS performance, operating as the primary capital portfolio business partner to all business units.

  • Build, manage, and optimize global capital management standards and processes across asset lifecycle & investment planning, facilities strategy & site planning, capital governance, external partner strategy, and projection execution that account for both enterprise standardization requirements and site-specific needs.
  • Drive impactful continuous improvement and transformation in function and across seams.
  • Directly and indirectly manage multidisciplinary & cultural teams across diverse geographies.
  • Mentor, drive and lead network learning and professional development of team.
  • Ensure compliance with and continuous improvement of BMS Global Engineering Governance model, standards, and finance requirements.
  • Provide leadership in the management of relationships between Global Technical Services (GTS) and key stakeholders across the enterprise.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, finance, business, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in life science or life science adjacent industry.
  • Experience managing a global capital portfolio, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams, managing senior stakeholder relationships, and managing a large-scale capital budget ($400M+) to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong background and understanding of end-to-end project delivery requirements.
  • Strong people leader with experience directly and indirectly managing multidisciplinary & cultural teams across diverse geographies.
  • Broad knowledge of the functional requirements of pharmaceutical facilities, operations and engineering best practices, including environmental, GMP and safety regulations.
  • Proven success driving operational excellence and/or transformation in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills with demonstrated success influencing across all levels of management and interfacing with cross-functional customers (i.e. Manufacturing, Research & Development, etc.).
  • Excellent planning, organizing, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, & SAP.
  • Ability to accommodate approximately 25%-50% travel.
