About the role
YAMA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and vision to advance YAMA's mission of making the arts accessible to all. This role requires a passionate and collaborative leader with a strong background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring alignment with the mission and values of YAMA.
- Oversee all operational aspects including finance, human resources, programming, and administration.
- Lead fundraising and development efforts, including cultivating relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, artists, and partner organizations.
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the organization through sound fiscal management and budget oversight.
- Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for YAMA, representing the organization at public events, meetings, and in the media.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic goals and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit organization, preferably in the arts or culture sector.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and development, including major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
- Strong financial management skills, including experience developing and managing budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to build and sustain community partnerships and collaborations.
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to increasing access and equity in arts programming.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and governance best practices.
