Executive Director, Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property

About the role

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Responsibilities

• Develop and execute IP strategies primarily within the neuroscience area
• Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels across research, development, and commercialization
• Identify and strengthen the company's IP portfolio through collaboration and understanding of patent law
• Design and deliver global IP portfolios from invention capture to patent issuance
• Manage worldwide IP portfolios for in-licensed and internally developed IP to enhance value
• Support Corporate Development on strategic collaborations and licensing agreements with robust IP due diligence
• Counsel internal clients on IP risks and opportunities, including patentability and infringement analyses

Qualifications

• Fully qualified US or European Patent Attorney with 12+ years of relevant IP experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
• Undergraduate degree in biological science, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field; advanced degree is preferred
• Experience managing IP practitioners and teams
• Significant experience in IP due diligence, licensing, and collaboration agreements
• Excellent communication skills capable of conveying complex information clearly

Pay

$288,000 – $432,000 annually
