About the role
Wood is recruiting for a Senior Business Development Manager / Director to join our Mining & Minerals business focusing on delivering some of the most complex projects in North America. This opportunity is Hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Growth
- Identify emerging market trends, conduct market analysis, and develop client-specific opportunities related to mining and minerals, critical minerals, base and precious metals, mine development, mineral processing
- Support the VP Growth & Development with accurate forecasting/re-forecasting activities and prospect portfolio management
- Leverage the full depth and breadth of Wood solutions for our customers
- Identify potential partnering agreements and JV partners
- Be wholly familiar with various Government apparatus as it applies to contract approvals and awards as appropriate
- Client Relationship Management
- Identification, validation and leadership of key prospects and opportunities
- Facilitate client meetings and presentations with appropriate Wood personnel to support our client needs and support business objectives
- Full ownership of Key Client accounts including account planning, developing zippering plans, strategy development, and managing Client relationships
- Manage and maintain integrity of all opportunity records in Wood’s CRM system to ensure accuracy, governance and compliance
- Obtain and analyze independent customer feedback through regular client visits, summarizing findings and presenting to the Canada Leadership team and associated project managers
- Maximize combined strengths with local partners to identify and secure work
- Internal Sales Development
- Develop Win Strategies and Win Plans to support proposals
- Use commercial and contractual acumen to identify barriers to success and enable early assessment of the likely competitiveness of a Wood offering
- Coordinate input into the Lead Review Meeting (LRM) process and participate in reviews with the Segment Directors
- Work collaboratively with other regional and global Wood entities to ensure an aligned, structured and strategic customer approach to business growth and market expansion
Qualifications
- Expected Bachelor level degree in a technical or related field
- 15 to 20 years’ experience in the Project Execution and Business Development Field
- Experience in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction industry pertaining to the Mining & Minerals
- Experience and hold key strategic Client relationships within major Clients organizations in the North American Mining industry
- Broad knowledge of mining & minerals industry technologies, work processes, environments and local customs, practices and norms from the EPC(M) services perspective
- Align and integrate closely with Key Operation Directors
- Proficient in use of Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools and systems
- Develop lead review and opportunity pursuit and win plans and then actively lead or manage the execution of those plans through to receipt of the customer inquiry (EOI, RFP’s etc.), development of the ultimate response strategy and development and submission of the Wood response
- Good understanding of the economic and commercial drivers in the EPC business
- Represent Wood within mining industry technical and social organizations at all levels, at industry events and conferences, and in our communities
- Experienced with the key concepts of HSE leadership & commitment
- Preferrable to have international operations experience
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office tools, Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Demonstrate a proactive and outcome-driven attitude, with excellent communication, writing, presentation and negotiating skills
- Able to manage a diverse and challenging portfolio of Clients in various market sectors
- Hands-on approach with internal sales team; and willing to support the development of presentations, proposals, and commercial agreements
- Critical thinker with problem solving abilities
- Decisive, with ability to make decisions and follow through, ensuring learnings are captured
