About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Merchant Cash Advance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead critical credit decision-making processes, conduct comprehensive financial analyses of merchants, and structure funding offers within a vibrant fintech environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong risk assessment skills, extensive experience in merchant cash advance underwriting, and a proactive approach to shaping credit strategies. This position offers the opportunity to work either in Utah or Virginia, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. The Senior Underwriter will play a vital role in supporting the company's growth by ensuring sound credit decisions and contributing to the development of innovative financial solutions tailored to our merchant clients.
Responsibilities
- Act as a confidential and reliable administrative partner, facilitating communication and escalating issues when necessary
- Coordinate and manage high-priority meetings for senior leadership, including the CEO and department heads
- Proactively schedule recurring forecast, budget, and operational meetings across multiple quarters
- Manage complex calendars, ensuring timely updates aligned with organizational changes
- Maintain and update the corporate organizational chart for both employees and entities
- Oversee state registration processes and track annual filing deadlines to ensure compliance
- Enter and maintain data for internal reporting, supporting operational transparency
- Prepare high-quality reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and business documents
- Support the team in using Microsoft tools effectively, serving as a subject matter resource
- Interface professionally with team members, clients, vendors, and internal support groups
- Organize and distribute incoming physical mail to relevant departments
- Manage weekly updates of the finance portal, including merchant offer statuses and payoff activities
- Assist with data cleanup, system maintenance, and accurate financial reporting
- Create ad hoc ACH schedules for makeup payments and support 1099 reporting processes
- Record incoming payments such as wire transfers, Priority Payments, and lockbox activities
- Update merchant offer statuses, including marking NSF transactions as paid and cross-checking reports
- Process expense reports and support internal culture initiatives, including team events and recognition programs
- Oversee UCC filings, no-interest letters, and support credit agency reporting activities
- Provide broad operational and administrative support, adapting as business needs evolve
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting senior executives or leadership teams
- Proven ability to thrive in high-change, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
- Strong multitasking skills across administrative, operational, and financial responsibilities
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail and follow-through
- High level of discretion and judgment in handling sensitive information
- Experience managing complex calendars, meetings, and travel logistics for senior leaders
- Exposure to business operations and corporate compliance, including Secretary of State filings
- Basic understanding of finance operations and the merchant cash advance (MCA) industry
- Strong project management and coordination skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, especially Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Canva for presentations and visual materials
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and leadership levels
- Experience supporting or backing up other executive assistants is a plus
- Prior administrative experience within a small to mid-sized finance company is preferred
