About the role

The University at Albany (UAlbany) is expanding its global reach, visibility, and impact in India, focusing on academic and research partnerships. This initiative aligns with the university's strategic priority of Internationalization and its goal to educate engaged global citizens. The Executive Director for Strategic Partnerships with India will report directly to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and will coordinate with the President, Chief of Staff, and senior administration at UAlbany and partner institutions (including Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) and Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM)).

The role will focus on developing and implementing strategic goals, projects, and initiatives related to academic and research partnerships, enrollment, and industry collaborations. The Executive Director will also help set the vision and priorities to create a robust, sustainable model for expanding these partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and operational lead for UAlbany’s existing and future partnerships in India and other global regions as determined by leadership.
  • Coordinate closely with UAlbany’s leadership team, including the President, Provost, Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Academic Deans, and the President’s Chief of Staff and Liaison for International Relations.
  • Execute existing partnership agreements with RUAS, RISM, and other institutions while proposing new areas for collaboration.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals, projects, and initiatives related to academic programs, research, workforce development, and faculty/student exchanges.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with industry partners in India and other regions.
  • Support high-level delegations and milestone events, such as the groundbreaking for the new RISM campus in Bengaluru (September 2026).

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in developing and managing international academic or research partnerships.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior university and institutional leaders.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-building with academic institutions, industry partners, and government entities.
  • Strategic vision and ability to propose innovative partnership opportunities.
