Excavator Operator
Responsibilities
- Must be able to operate various types of heavy equipment, such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, compactors, articulated dump trucks, and/or front-end loaders
- Ensures equipment is in good working order, at all times
- Must possess skill, coordination, and awareness to operate heavy equipment in a safe manner with precision and efficiency
- Willingness to operate heavy equipment for long periods with continuous attention to detail and safety
- Maintain consistent communication among field crew members by use of hand signals or radio to align and position heavy equipment properly
- Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the job site
- Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
- Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
- Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
- May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
Requirements
- Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment, such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, compactors, articulated dump trucks, and/or front-end loaders
- Must have 1 year of experience operating excavators
- Valid Driver’s License
- On-call and weekend availability
- Travel is required
Preferred Qualifications
- FTTH, FTTX Experience
- Class A CDL
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Understanding of basic utility construction processes and terminology
Additional Information
Pay Range: $24 - $28 USD per hour (Portland, OR)
Schedule: Day Shift: Monday - Friday & Night Shift: Sunday - Thursday
Travel Requirements: 100%
Role Openings: 3
Target Start Date: 2-3 weeks from offer
