About the role

SAIC is seeking an experienced, full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) Supervisor to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Newark ATCT (EWR) in Newark, NJ. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The RPO Supervisor oversees and directs the activities of CTS personnel providing RPO support, including scheduling, monitoring daily operations, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of RPO time cards.

The FAA employs over 14,000 air traffic controllers who safely separate more than 50,000 aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS) daily. This role contributes to training new and current air traffic control specialists to maintain high safety and professionalism standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the activities of Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) personnel.
  • Manage RPO schedules and monitor daily operations within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of RPO time cards.
  • Interface with FAA personnel at all levels to deliver training services that meet local facility and FAA mission needs.
  • Support training and training program services for all types and levels of ATC facilities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO).
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience as an RPO at Newark ATCT (EWR).
  • Experience working in the Terminal radar lab or En Route lab.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65.
  • Team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Familiarity with current technologic tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.).
  • Knowledge of FAA e-LMS.
  • Prior supervisory experience (preferred but not required).

Certifications

Certification equivalent to that required of a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO).

Pay

Target salary range: $40,001 – $80,000, based on experience and other factors.

Schedule

  • Full-time.
  • Rotating shift.
