About the Role
The Environmental Services Technician cleans and sanitizes wards, rooms, baths, restrooms, and offices; maintains floors, furniture, and equipment; replenishes supplies; and performs related duties to ensure a safe, orderly environment.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas (patient/resident rooms, X-ray, surgery, outpatient, business offices, emergency department, etc.) using germicidal solutions.
- Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; dusts, mops, and vacuums floors.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, mirrors, sinks, and fixtures.
- Replenishes hand soap, sanitizer, deodorizers, and paper products in dispensers.
- Empties regular trash and disposes of biohazardous waste, including sharps containers, following prescribed procedures.
- Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms after discharges and daily cleaning of operating suites.
- Cleans utility/storage rooms, elevators, fans, vents, windows, blinds, and ceilings as scheduled.
- Disinfects handrails, door frames, and high-touch surfaces daily.
- Changes cubicle curtains and notifies supervisor of repairs needed for window curtains.
- Documents cleaning times for rooms/areas and patient discharge cleanings.
- Cross-trains for different work areas and performs project cleaning (e.g., cove bases, high dusting, wall washing).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and push carts.
- Climb ladders and work with dexterity while on a ladder.
- Lifting tasks:
- Floor to waist: 40 pounds
- 14” to waist: 50 pounds
- Waist to shoulder: 35 pounds
- Shoulder to overhead: 10 pounds
- Carry 40 pounds for 30 feet; push/pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet.
Schedule
Regular full-time, 40 hours weekly. Tuesday–Saturday, 5:00 PM–1:30 AM.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Environmental Services Director.
