Regular full-time position, 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 7:00pm – 3:30am.
About the Role
The Environmental Services (EVS) Technician cleans and sanitizes wards, rooms, baths, restrooms, and offices; maintains floors, furniture, and equipment; replenishes supplies; and performs related duties to ensure a safe, orderly environment.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas (patient/resident rooms, X-ray, surgery, outpatient, business offices, emergency department, etc.) using germicidal solutions.
- Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, and operating suites.
- Washes furniture, tiles, fixtures, mirrors, and equipment with prescribed cleaning solutions.
- Notifies supervisor of equipment needing repairs.
- Dry dusts and wet mops halls, stairwells, and elevators (sanitizing handrails, doors, control panels, walls, and floors).
- Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizer, deodorizers, and paper products.
- Empties regular trash and disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps containers in the prescribed manner.
- Vacuums carpeted areas and disinfects handrails daily.
- Changes cubicle curtains on a scheduled basis or as needed; reports window curtains needing cleaning/repair.
- Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms after discharges according to procedures.
- Cleans storage rooms weekly and utility rooms (clean and soiled) daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes ER beds when grossly soiled (ER staff techs handle monthly cleaning).
- Cleans floor fans, desk fans, ceiling fans, door frames, vents (outer surface), windows, blinds, and ceilings in specified areas.
- Performs project cleaning: cove bases, wastebaskets, high dusting, and wall washing.
- Documents cleaning times for rooms/areas on monthly charts and patient room discharge forms.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and push carts.
- Must be able to climb and work from a ladder.
- Lifting requirements:
- Floor to waist: 40 pounds
- 14” to waist: 50 pounds
- Waist to shoulder: 35 pounds
- Shoulder to overhead: 10 pounds
- Carry 40 pounds for 30 feet.
- Push/pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet.
- Carry 40 pounds away from body for 30 feet.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00pm – 3:30am.
