EVS Support Aide BU - Sharp TriCity Med Center - Day Shift - Full Time

Schedule

Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week). Weekend requirement: every other weekend. On-call: not required.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $25.00 – $27.48. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU.

What You Will Do

• Collect and dispose of all medical solid waste and trash throughout the facility.
• Collect and distribute linen.
• Maintain and clean floors (stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing) according to AORN and Practice Guidelines for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning standards (Surgical Services only).
• Perform housekeeping and janitorial duties in patient-care areas, administrative offices, and public spaces.
• Move and relocate patient beds, furniture, boxes, desks, supplies, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
• Safely move heavy equipment, bins, and receptacles.
• Collect bio-waste and trash, disposing of it in proper receptacles.
• Clean and maintain assigned areas according to organizational standards and schedules.
• Use appropriate protective equipment, including wet floor signs, and follow proper hand hygiene protocols.
• Understand and fulfill role responsibilities in the event of a disaster.
• Clean discharge and occupied rooms according to departmental training checklists.
• Maintain professional and courteous customer service at all times.
• Stay current with all hospital requirements (e.g., annual TB skin test, fit testing, Net Learning).

Requirements

• Experience with stripping, waxing, and buffing surgery/operating room floors according to AORN and Practice Guidelines for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning standards (Surgical Services only).
• Experience with floor scrubber/buffing equipment (Surgical Services only).
• Ability to push/pull a minimum of 750 lbs. and lift/move a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Understanding of proper floor care, trash disposal, linen distribution, and safe lifting techniques.
• Ability to work with cleaning solutions and chemicals safely.
• Ability to complete on-the-job training, including operational procedures for cleaning equipment and tools, and demonstrate knowledge of health and sanitation standards.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions and labels in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, healthcare staff, and environmental services employees.
• Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment, and soil removal in an operating room environment (Surgical Services only).
• Current California driver’s license within 6 months of hire or transfer (PM shift only).

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of previous housekeeping or janitorial experience.
