EVS Support Aide BU - Sharp TriCity Med City - Night Shift - Full Time

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU and is open to internal candidates not in the ratified Bargaining Unit as well as external candidates.

Schedule

• Shift: 11 PM – 7 AM
• Hours: 8-hour shift, 40 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required

Pay

Hourly pay range: $25.00 – $27.48

What You Will Do

This role ensures effective collection of all medical solid waste and trash throughout the facility, as well as collection and distribution of linen and floor care maintenance. The position also performs all duties of an Environmental Services Aide, including housekeeping and janitorial tasks in patient care areas, administrative offices, and public spaces.

Responsibilities

Environmental Services Support Aide (Lift-Floor-Trash-Linen)

• Collect biohazard waste and trash throughout the facility and dispose of in proper receptacles.
• Collect and distribute linen.
• Maintain and clean floors according to organizational standards and assigned schedule.
• Move and relocate patient beds, furniture, boxes, desks, supplies, and other equipment as assigned.

Environmental Services Aide

• Clean and maintain assigned areas according to TCMC standards.
• Maintain a safe environment at all times, including proper use of wet floor signs.
• Use appropriate protective equipment while performing duties, including proper hand washing and sanitizing.
• Understand the role and responsibility of the position in the event of a disaster.
• Clean discharge and occupied rooms according to the departmental training checklist.
• Maintain professional and courteous customer service at all times.
• Maintain compliance with all hospital requirements (e.g., annual TB skin test, fit testing, Net Learning, and other requirements).

Requirements

• Experience with stripping, waxing, and buffing surgery/operating room floors according to AORN and Practice Guidelines for Healthcare Environmental Cleaning standards (Surgical Services only).
• Experience with floor scrubber/buffing equipment (Surgical Services only).
• Ability to push and pull a minimum of 750 lbs.
• Ability to lift and move a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Ability to understand proper floor care, trash collection, linen distribution, and lifting techniques.
• Ability to work with and properly handle cleaning solutions and chemicals.
• Ability to complete on-the-job training, including proper operational procedures for cleaning equipment and tools, and demonstrate knowledge of health and sanitation standards.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions and labels in English.
• Ability to communicate with supervisors, healthcare staff, and environmental service employees.
• Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment, and soil removal in an operating room environment (Surgical Services only).
• Current CA driver’s license (PM shift only) within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of previous housekeeping or janitorial experience.
