EVS Housekeeping Associate Evening

Location: Mesa, Arizona – Banner Desert Medical Center, an 80-acre campus recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of Phoenix's Best Hospitals. The facility includes over 700 licensed beds, with more than 100 dedicated to children and 76 to the NICU. Areas of excellence include high-risk pregnancy, neonatal care, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, oncology, and emergency medicine. Banner Children's Hospital at Desert offers a 200-bed, state-of-the-art facility with advanced technology such as iCare ICU monitoring and robotic surgery, featuring a 76-bed NICU, 24-bed PICU, six pediatric ORs, and a 22-bed ED.

As a Housekeeping/EVS Associate, you will ensure our facilities maintain a top-notch appearance by cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the hospital. This role is vital to our hospital staff and makes a difference in the lives of our patients. No prior experience in a hospital or institutional environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Plan and complete daily cleaning tasks.
• Empty hampers and transport soiled linen.
• Empty trash containers and remove all trash, including medical waste containers and sharps.
• Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and report necessary repairs.
• Protect equipment from damage through proper use and logging equipment in/out.
• Perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
• Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors, meeting or exceeding customer service satisfaction goals.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and by phone.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals, including filling out chemical identification stickers.
• Physical ability to work in a fast-paced environment, involving walking, pushing a cleaning cart, and using cleaning chemicals.
• Willingness to work closely with removing trash and linens, and potentially assigned to clean specialty areas, including the morgue or areas with blood or bodily fluids.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen if an offer is made; offer may be withdrawn if onboarding steps are not completed on time.
• Annual flu vaccine required.

Qualifications

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees at Olive Branch Senior Center must also possess and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
• Additional related education and/or experience.

Schedule

Evening Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with rotating weekends off.
