EVS Associate - Washington Township Hospital (FT, Days)

About the Role

The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate aids in maintaining a high quality standard of housekeeping, performing cleaning functions in assigned areas while following assigned schedules and specific methods. This role ensures patients, visitors, and staff experience a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. EVS Associates contribute to the prevention of cross-contamination, control of bacteria and odor, and maintenance of aseptic conditions. Responsibilities may include assisting with moves, recycling, delivery of supplies, and removal of trash and biohazard waste.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.
• Establishes and maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned work areas by following departmental policies and procedures (20%).
• Properly disposes of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations, including handling environmental contaminants such as batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles. Ensures biohazard food and loading areas are safe and clean of debris (20%).
• Maintains equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to uphold a professional appearance (20%).
• Complies with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for protection against exposure to blood, infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances (5%).
• Follows hospital and departmental policies on hand hygiene (5%).
• Completes and maintains all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures (10%).
• Observes safety precautions when pushing equipment and reports faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems in accordance with safety policies (5%).
• Utilizes wet floor signs to prevent slips and falls by patients, employees, and visitors, ensuring compliance with safety practices (5%).
• Engages with patients and visitors using scripting to extend courtesy and demonstrate high standards of conduct (5%).
• Assists with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups as requested by supervisors or staff (5%).
• Responds to pages or phone calls in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.
• Must be available for rotating weekends and holidays.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $17.00 to $20.84. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
