EVS Associate - Washington Township Hospital (PT, Evenings)

Environmental Services (EVS) Associates help maintain high housekeeping standards by performing cleaning tasks in assigned areas, ensuring a sanitary, orderly, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role supports infection control, odor management, and aseptic conditions while assisting with moves, recycling, supply delivery, and waste removal.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coworkers, visitors, and staff in alignment with Jefferson’s values.
• Establish and maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned areas by following departmental policies and procedures (20%).
• Properly dispose of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA regulations, including handling contaminants such as batteries, mercury thermometers, and needles. Keep biohazard areas clean and free of debris (20%).
• Maintain equipment, carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to uphold a professional appearance (20%).
• Comply with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to guard against exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances (5%).
• Follow hospital and departmental hand hygiene policies (5%).
• Complete and maintain carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures (10%).
• Observe safety precautions when operating equipment and report mechanical, structural, or electrical issues per safety policy (5%).
• Use wet floor signs to prevent slips and ensure compliance with safety practices (5%).
• Engage with patients and visitors using scripting to provide courteous service and uphold high standards of conduct (5%).
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups as requested by supervisors or staff (5%).
• Respond promptly to pages or phone calls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of housekeeping or cleaning experience in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.
• Rotating weekends and holidays required.

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.00 to $20.84. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Schedule

Workday Evening shift.
