Event Technician (on-call)

About the role

This is an entry-level, on-call position that provides crucial support to all SFJAZZ Events produced by the Artistic, Education, Development, and Rentals departments, as well as assisting the Facilities/Operations department as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide set-up and breakdown support for performance and event spaces within the SFJAZZ Center, including lobbies, Joe Henderson Lab, and Artist Wing: installation and strike of backline equipment, portable stages, portable sound systems, banners, and signage.
• Facilitate off-site support for SFJAZZ Artistic and Education events by transporting backline and audio equipment, as well as providing set-up and breakdown support.
• Transport materials to and from SFJAZZ storage facilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in the performing arts or concert production field.
• Ability to work under pressure to maintain strict adherence to show schedules.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to provide a high degree of customer service.

Working Conditions

• This position is required to work a minimum of 1 shift per 60 days.
• Evenings and weekends may be required.
• The role involves moving furniture, stage platforms, band, and AV equipment, including the use of a hand truck, maneuvering stairs, pushing and pulling equipment, and the ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
