Event Staff Usher/ Ticket Taker

About the role

The Event Staff Attendant reports to the Box Office Manager and is responsible for assisting patrons, scanning tickets, and carrying out other event day tasks at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum and Auditorium.

Responsibilities

• Scanning tickets or manually taking tickets
• Operating event-related equipment such as ticket scanners
• Securing the property for events
• Parking cars, directing traffic, and collecting money for parking
• Assisting patrons to their seats
• Providing instruction, guidance, and assistance to guests as they arrive
• Providing guests with venue information
• Effectively and calmly interacting with angry or emotional guests and employees
• Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a positive attitude when interacting with guests, vendors, and employees
• Working with Security to ensure venue spaces are empty of guests and lost items at the conclusion of every event
• Reporting any event-related issues or concerns
• Following all operating policies and procedures

• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
• Good organizational skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and telephone skills
• Manual dexterity for data input of ticketing scanners
• Must be able to meet company standards for a criminal background check

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience preferred

Physical Demands

• Constant standing and walking
• Ability to work extended hours productively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Work in both indoor and outdoor settings

• May require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events
