About the Role

This Event Staff position is responsible for patrolling all areas of the property and parking lots, securing doors, and ensuring the safety of all guests, employees, and contract labor while on premises. Event Staff secure the property during move-in/out, trade shows, conventions, or events and maintain a positive guest experience for all PPL Center patrons. This role enforces all rules, regulations, and policies of the PPL Center while providing excellent customer service.

The hourly pay rate for this part-time role is $13.00 - $13.50.

About The Venue

PPL Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose arena in downtown Allentown, PA, and home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region's largest events venue. PPL Center hosts more than 150 events each year, including the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (the AHL affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers), live concerts, family shows, trade shows, youth sports, high school and collegiate events, graduations, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Attend to your assigned position during the course of the event.
  • Secure entrance doors, escalators, stairwells, lobbies, and backstage areas.
  • Have knowledge of building layout, including restrooms and exits.
  • Have knowledge of all rules and regulations for admittance to your area.
  • Have knowledge of all authorized credentials.
  • Monitor guests and enforce rules.
  • Assist in crowd management, seating discrepancies, clearing aisles, and settling disputes.
  • Inform supervisor of developing problems.
  • Respond in a quick and professional manner to incidents.
  • Be aware of all special functions or activities that occur during the event.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Effective communication skills required; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to interact with guests and staff with a professional and friendly appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
  • Must be able to stand or walk constantly for extended lengths of time.
  • Must be able to work in an environment of moderate to loud noise levels.
