About the role
The Event Staff position at M&T Bank Arena is a temporary role from September 7, 2026 to June 30, 2027. As a member of the Event Staff team, you play a crucial role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for guests attending Quinnipiac University events.
Responsibilities
- Arrive on time for assigned shifts in the appropriate uniform and maintain a professional appearance.
- Welcome guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- Scan and verify tickets, credentials, and passes to ensure proper admission and access.
- Examine tickets and assist guests in locating their assigned seats.
- Provide directions and information regarding seating sections, restrooms, concessions, elevators, exits, and other venue amenities.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding venue policies, procedures, and event information.
- Maintain clear aisles, stairways, entrances, exits, and emergency egress routes.
- Aid in crowd management and guest flow before, during, and after events.
- Enforce venue policies and procedures while maintaining a positive guest experience.
- Respond to guest concerns, complaints, and service requests in a calm, professional manner and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
- Observe and report safety hazards, facility issues, suspicious activity, accidents, injuries, or guest incidents.
- Assist guests with disabilities and special accessibility needs.
- Support emergency response procedures and venue evacuations when required.
- Attend pre-event briefings and follow all event operations, guest service, and safety protocols.
- Complete any required documentation, incident reports, or event-related records accurately and thoroughly.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, fellow event staff, Athletics personnel, Public Safety officers, Facilities staff, and event organizers.
- Perform additional event-related duties and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong customer service and hospitality mindset.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with guests, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in fast-paced or stressful situations.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to learn venue layouts, event procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other event-based schedules.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.
- One to two years of relevant work experience.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during event shifts.
- Ability to safely navigate stairs, ramps, concourses, and other venue areas.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, crowded, and high-energy event environments.
- Ability to perform duties in proximity to large crowds, elevated seating areas, loud noise levels, flashing lights, and changing event conditions.
- Flexibility to support both indoor and outdoor events as business needs require.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other seasonal elements.
