Event Planning Manager

The Event Planning Manager at Thompson Savannah is responsible for building and fostering relationships with clients by providing a superior planning experience. Responsibilities

• Generate detailed banquet event orders and communicate with Hotel as well as Food and Beverage Department Heads
• Aid in the development and implementation of effective marketing plans for generating catering revenues
• Optimize room rental charges and event upsell opportunities
• Handle special projects as requested by the Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and Director of Sales
• Ensure events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy
• Greet customers during the event phase and hand off to the Event Operations team for the execution of details
• Manage billing accuracy and conduct bill reviews with clients prior to processing the final bill
• Manage group meeting space for groups and events
• Identify operational challenges associated with his/her group and determine how to best work with the property staff and customers to solve these challenges or develop alternative solutions
• Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary
• Lead formal pre-event and post-event meetings for small to average-sized assigned groups
• Facilitate Banquet Event Orders and Resumes Meetings

Qualifications

• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
• Refined verbal and written communication skills
• A minimum of 1-3 years of hotel event sales/event planning or comparable experience preferred
• Must be proficient in general computer knowledge
• Candidates should be extremely detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle a fast-paced environment
• Prioritization of candidates who have completed Event Management trainee programs or have completed PSS or equivalent training
