Who are we hiring?
Hands-on Event Operations Assistant to support match day operations, training facility activities, and special events across Kansas City Current venues.
What will you do?
- Support Kansas City Current match day field operations, including setup and breakdown of field equipment, ball stands, benches, stanchions, and other on-field or sideline elements
- Provide supervision and organization of ball retrievers, including assisting with pre-match staging and monitoring post-match on-field access to ensure safe and orderly movement of families, participants, and credentialed personnel
- Act as a liaison between Event Operations, Team Operations, Medical, Security, and other internal stakeholders as needed during events
- Support emergency preparedness efforts by understanding and assisting with Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and responding appropriately to incidents
- Provide hands-on event operations support throughout match days, including but not limited to assisting with plaza and fan activation setup, greeting and engaging guests, supporting wayfinding and transportation logistics (including shuttle and bus pick-up/drop-off areas), and helping with equipment setup and breakdown
- Serve as the on-site facility contact during evening team practices at the University of Kansas Training Facility, providing operational oversight and point-of-contact support
- Manage field rental transitions, practice-related setup and breakdown at University of Kansas Training Facility, including goals, field equipment, hydration stations, and ancillary equipment as needed
- Support weekend tournaments, camps, and one-off events at the training facility, including field setup, cooler and equipment staging, goal movement, and event breakdown
- Aid the Private Events team in executing events when volume exceeds manager capacity, supporting events from load-in through load-out- Provide hands-on event support, including room setup, furniture adjustments and coordination with internal departments
- Assist with stadium tours as needed, both during private events and during non-event days
What do you need to succeed?
- Interest in event/facility/sports operations, with a willingness to learn and support a wide range of events and match day responsibilities
- Ability to work independently on-site while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including Event Operations, Team Operations, Medical, Security, and Guest Experience
- Attention to detail and ability to follow operational plans, timelines, and safety protocols
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff, coaches, players, officials, clients, and guests
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Driver License
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Ability to speak and understand English
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
