Event Medicine Specialist II - Emergency Services (SEMM)

About the Role

Provide advanced on-site medical care during mass gathering events (e.g., sporting events, concerts, or other recreational gatherings). Work with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate the response to illness and injury for event spectators and participants. Deliver direct patient care at the ALS level in accordance with Medical Transport Network guidelines and regional EMS Council protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Document patient condition and all treatment provided while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Interface effectively with peers and customers and assume responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
  • Ensure assigned vehicles are cleaned and restocked after each event or patient transport.
  • Maintain safety as a primary responsibility throughout all aspects of care and transportation.
  • Report any safety hazards to the Event Supervisor or EMS Field Ops Supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, skills, required continuing education, and mandatory in-services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • One year of ALS-level experience as a released attendant-in-charge.
  • Virginia Department of Health Intermediate or Paramedic certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • Unrestricted Valid Driver’s License (VADL) and at least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) Class II or higher.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, traveling, and climbing (ladder, steps).
  • Driving.
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull over 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $23.00 - $25.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
