Event Lead
Mercor · San Francisco, CA · Today
On-siteManagement$160k–$200k/yrFull-time
About the role
Events are one of Mercor's highest-leverage surfaces. You will own the strategy and execution for these events, including:
- The events strategy and annual calendar across four areas: enterprise and human-data GTM, customer-lab GTM, recruiting events, and internal events.
- The creative POV and quality bar for every event.
- Mercor's own conferences — APEX Summit and beyond, ramping toward ~4 a year — plus our presence at the conferences that matter (NeurIPS, ICML, and the like).
- High-signal executive and customer programs: intimate dinners, partner roundtables, and gatherings timed to Mercor's biggest moments.
- Recruiting events — from a university events program to hackathons — that help us reach and win elite talent.
- Internal events, from smaller team moments up to company-wide offsites (individual team dinners excluded).
- Hands-on execution: working directly with vendors, coordinating across marketing, recruiting, and workplace, and keeping every event organized and on track.
- Targeting and follow-through with GTM, recruiting, and brand partners so events convert into relationships, pipeline, and talent — not just attendance.
- Measurement and repeatable playbooks, so each program gets sharper over time.

What We're Looking For
- 6–8 years in events, field marketing, or experiential — ideally for technical, executive, or otherwise discerning audiences.
- Deep event expertise and conviction — strong, defensible opinions on what makes an event land, and the confidence to push back on stakeholders.
- An entrepreneurial executor — you spot where to add leverage and go do it, not an order-taker; high energy, and happy to roll up your sleeves on vendors, details, and run-of-show.
- A structured thinker who turns ambiguity into clear plans and presents them well cross-functionally — across marketing, recruiting, and vendors.
- Steady under ambiguity — you prefer a plan, but you don't break down when there isn't one.
- Polished enough to represent Mercor to founders, lab leaders, and senior executives.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with events in AI, human data, or the Bay Area startup scene.
- Design taste — you can pick a menu, shape the aesthetic, and give sharp feedback on vendor graphics.
- A client-facing, outgoing personality — comfortable being a presence at the event itself.
- A network in the AI ecosystem — labs, research, founders.
- Experience standing up an owned event or program from scratch.
