About the role
The Event Coordinator plays a critical role in overseeing the operational details of various events managed by Cornell Catering. These events range from large university events to prestigious alumni weddings, requiring a high level of coordination and communication with diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the basic operational details of events ranging from large university events to prestigious alumni weddings.
- Support a very high level of coordination and communication with a diverse clientele, including students, alumni, staff, faculty, university leadership, and Cornell Dining team members.
- Ensure smooth execution of all event logistics, including managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships both onsite and beyond, fostering repeat business.
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Work collaboratively with other Cornell Dining team members and units within Student and Campus Life to strengthen community and campus partnerships.
Requirements
- Trade/Vocational/Technical School or Associate degree with at least two years of experience in a catering or food service industry.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Filemaker, or similar database software, and calendar management programs.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
- Able to stand for long periods, including periods with significant walking.
- Maintain a valid NY state driver’s license with no major driving violations.
- Ability to obtain DOT or university certification as needed to drive catering trucks.
- Experience connecting inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing practices to business goals.
Qualifications

- Previous experience with Workday, Event Master, and FSS systems.
- Previous experience supervising others is strongly preferred.
