About the role
The Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation is dedicated to fostering a supportive community that strengthens Washburn University and enhances student experiences. We engage alumni and friends, secure and manage donations, and build long-term partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Develops, creates, and implements engagement events to encourage alumni and friends of the University to participate and support Washburn University.
- Maintains a calendar of events to facilitate planning and scheduling for the Alumni Association.
- Coordinates all event details and ensures their success.
- Implements, attends, directs, and oversees on-site needs for events and programs.
- Promotes new engagement opportunities to enhance the alumni experience.
- Works with marketing and communications to write, plan, and implement event and program communications.
- Provides excellent customer service and builds relationships with internal and external customers.
- Assists with the logistics and preparation of materials for Alumni Board meetings.
- Attends Board meetings and offers assistance to board members.
- Identifies, modifies, and extracts information from the Foundation database for analysis and reporting.
- Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, preferred from Washburn University.
- Working knowledge and understanding of event planning concepts, principles, and practices.
- Experience in constituent/member services, public relations, alumni relations, or related fields preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Creative and strategic thinking abilities.
- Judgment and problem-solving skills to handle various situations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing, with the ability to generate reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office programs.
- Familiarity with relational databases.
- Ability to work early days, evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as required.
