Temporary, part-time position (0–19 hours weekly) supporting the Heartbeat of Mexico Festival at Musco Center for the Arts on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Chapman University provides a reasonable estimate of compensation for this role. The anticipated pay rate is $20.00 per hour, with final offers determined by candidate qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
About the role
The Event Assistant will provide day-of-event support for the Heartbeat of Mexico Festival, a cultural event featuring live music, dance performances, and art activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-of-event support for the Heartbeat of Mexico Festival.
- Assist with stage preparation, ensuring equipment, signage, and supplies are in place.
- Support performer and artist check-in and direct talent to designated event locations.
- Assist with volunteer check-in and serve as a point of contact for volunteer needs during the event.
- Perform runner services, including transporting supplies, materials, and information between event locations.
- Support Musco Center staff in maintaining efficient event operations and a positive guest experience.
Requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on event production needs, including evening and weekend hours.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with performers, volunteers, staff, and guests.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Experience assisting with live events, festivals, performances, or community programs (desired).
- Understanding of live production, stage operations, or festival logistics (desired).
- Experience working with volunteers or public-facing events (desired).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace (desired).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
