About the role
Join our historic tours of America family! The Evening Trolley Driver must have a good sense of fun and a desire to entertain passengers, as well as excellent driving skills as they drive a trolley on busy public streets at night multiple times a work shift. Have fun driving an Old Town Trolley and sharing the history of our region entertaining visitors while educating them about historic Savannah!
Responsibilities
- Drive in a safe, competent manner a non-air-conditioned trolley on busy public streets
- Meet and deal with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt and courteous manner
- Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant composure
- Maintain radio contact with dispatch during tours
- Perform an interior and exterior physical inspection of the vehicle daily and accurately complete the departmental documents/forms for inspection
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Trolley Drivers must be able to drive a non-air-conditioned vehicle, on a busy public street in a safe, competent manner while entertaining guests by narrating a scripted sightseeing tour
- Must be able to board and exit the trolley and assist guests with boarding and exiting the trolley
- Must pass annual Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) checks
- Ability to learn and memorize scripted tours routes as assigned
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow employees, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must pass a DOT physical upon employment
- Valid GA CDL Class B with airbrake and passenger endorsements (Will train to acquire a CDL. Must obtain a CDL in the first month of employment)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable and verifiable driving record of at least three years
Other Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing
- Must pass a DOT physical upon employment
- Have a passion for helping people and making their Savannah experience a memorable one
