Evaporator Operator

APTIM has an opening for an Evaporator Operator at a landfill/natural gas leachate evaporation plant. The role involves day-to-day operations, adherence to safety requirements, and on-call duties to ensure maximum runtime and production. The position includes remote collaboration with Operations and Project Management.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the mechanical and electrical systems portion of the plant.
• Monitors and operates process control equipment, including valving, packaging, and engineering.
• Interprets plant procedures.
• Monitors and troubleshoots operating equipment.
• Develops and maintains records, either manually or by computer methods.
• Performs calibration checks of scale accuracy at the beginning of each work shift.
• Observes gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are working properly.
• Handles day-to-day plant operations, including daily health and safety observations and record-keeping.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift heavy objects and work outside in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain).
• Willingness to travel for training and vacation coverage at other facilities as needed.
• Mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Ability to participate in a 7-day on-call rotation.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Landfill gas experience.
• Computer/PLC experience.

• Strength: Standing (50%), Walking (20%), Sitting (30%).
• Lifting up to 35 lb.
• Carrying up to 35 lb.
• Occasionally: Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling.
• Constantly: Reaching, Handling, Fingering.

Pay

The current pay range for this position is $27–$32 per hour, depending on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity.
