Responsibilities

  • Coordinate HIV Case Surveillance quality assurance activities
  • Contribute to developing strategies to monitor the quality and completeness of HIV surveillance data
  • Perform analyses of HIV surveillance data and generate reports to evaluate data quality
  • Aid in developing performance measures and conduct re-abstractions of medical records to evaluate the quality of field investigations
  • Assess for retraining opportunities
  • Perform data to care activities including out of care investigations
  • Conduct data quality review of cases to assess criteria for Acute HIV Infection
  • Support provider reporting activities which include educating reporters on reporting requirements and training providers on reporting via paper and the HIV Provider Portal
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures manuals
  • Perform other appropriate related duties

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in the evaluation and/or analysis of health, human services or related programs and/or fields
  • OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and four years of such experience
  • OR six years of such experience
  • A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience
  • Experience in public health surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, medical record review, and data quality assurance/quality improvement activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access/Excel, SAS or other similar statistical software and relational databases
  • Experience working with confidential data
  • Experience with large, population-based, or other health-related data sets (e.g., SPARCS, Medicaid), disease registries

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Six years of experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field

Skills

Pay

Minimum: $77,308.00 - Maximum: $77,308.00 Annually

Schedule

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

About the Role

Department (OHEHR) AI - Bureau Of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology

The Evaluation Specialist II will coordinate HIV Case Surveillance quality assurance activities contributing to the evaluation of HIV/ AIDS data collected through field investigation and reported to the surveillance system; contribute to developing strategies to monitor the quality and completeness of HIV surveillance data; perform analyses of HIV surveillance data and generate reports to evaluate data quality; aid in developing performance measures and conduct re-abstractions of medical records to evaluate the quality of field investigations; assess for retraining opportunities; perform data to care activities including out of care investigations; conduct data quality review of cases to assess criteria for Acute HIV Infection; support provider reporting activities which include educating reporters on reporting requirements and training providers on reporting via paper and the HIV Provider Portal; maintain and update standard operating procedures manuals; perform other appropriate related duties.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Travel up to 25% of the time will be required
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire
  • This position will become eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work, after a waiting period of approximately six months, subject to satisfactory job performance, management approval and operational needs

Regardless of telecommuting status, all HRI employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their official work location and must reside in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
