ETS, Guidance Counselor, CRLS

About the role

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) is seeking a Guidance Counselor, Grades 9-12, to join its caring and innovative community. The successful candidate will have experience working with adolescents and will be fully committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all team members, including other guidance counselors, school psychologists and social workers, teachers, administrators, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
• Work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community.
• Partner with families and include them in the students’ learning and development, as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school.
• Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.
• Facilitate transitions and counsel all students toward the realization of their full educational potential.
• Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will pursue a dignified next step.
• Develop, collect, analyze, and interpret data.
• Organize and integrate pre-college guidance and counseling into the guidance program.
• Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their child’s education.
• Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.
• Facilitate i-decide student training sessions.
• Any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Understanding of and experience with guidance and counseling activities.
• Previous experience working with adolescents.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with a multicultural student population in an urban school setting.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Massachusetts DESE Certification: School Counselor required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
• A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.
• Possess and demonstrate exemplary counseling and communication skills.
• Demonstrate appropriate ethical behavior and professional conduct in the fulfillment of role and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred.
• Massachusetts DESE Certification: School Counselor required.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend availability as needed.
