About the role
The Department of Engineering & Technology Management at Portland State University invites local, qualified candidates to serve as adjunct instructors in various specialty areas. Adjunct instructors must be qualified to teach one or more of the following courses. (See the PSU Bulletin for course descriptions: here)
Responsibilities
- Teach one or more of the following courses: ETM 347U Introduction to Product Design, ETM 505 Reading & Conference, ETM 508 Learning Lab, ETM 527/627 Data Mining for Business, ETM 535/635 Advanced Engineering Economics, ETM 538/638 DSS: Data Warehousing, ETM 544/644 Organizational Project Management, ETM 545/645 Project Management, ETM 546/646 Project Management Tools, ETM 547/647 New Product Development, ETM 558 Engineering Financial Management, ETM 562/662 New Venture Management, ETM 572 AI Fundamentals for non-Programmers.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field. (Work experience and/or teaching experience aligned with course content may be used in lieu of degree, at the Department’s discretion.)
- All adjunct candidates are required to be living in either Oregon or Washington for the academic year 2026-2027.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience, preferred.
- PhD in Engineering or a closely related field, preferred.

Compensation
- Varies with experience. Adjuncts are paid per credit hour, and are hired on either a per term or an academic year basis, per the PSUFA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
