About the role
The Ethernet Tech Lead defines communication architecture at both the system and software levels, using SOME/IP as well as other communication technologies such as CAN-over-Ethernet (PSOME/IP, raw PDUs, etc.), DDS, MQTT, and related protocols. The role requires strong embedded-systems knowledge to understand how these services can be optimized for network throughput and for the ECUs that consume them.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design, analysis, development, and integration of SOME/IP and other communication technologies such as CAN-over-Ethernet (PSOME/IP, raw PDUs, etc.), DDS, MQTT, and related protocols.
- Collaborate with OS, hypervisor, and middleware teams to enable robust inter-domain communication.
- Optimize communication architecture for latency, throughput, resource usage, and determinism in real-time and virtualized environments (e.g., QNX, Linux, Android GVM).
- Debug and troubleshoot ethernet communication-related issues across hardware and software layers using tools like JTAG, tracing frameworks, and logic analyzers.
- Implement safety- and security-aware features impacted by ethernet-based communications aligned with ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434.
- Provide technical guidance to specialists and transfer knowledge internally via trainings and expertise webinars.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development, with a focus on SoC platforms or communication frameworks.
- Experience in designing networks for distributed embedded systems.
- Experience in system design and software architecture.
- Ability to design, write, review, debug, and guide software development.
- Strong experience in analyzing ethernet data trace logs.
- Strong background in working with multiple ethernet protocols such as SOME/IP, CAN-over-Ethernet (PSOME/IP, raw PDUs), DDS, MQTT, etc.
- Ability to effectively present to multi-discipline and multicultural audiences in English.
- Strong proficiency in Advanced C and C++ (14/17+), with a solid understanding of multicore and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with QNX, Linux, or RTOS environments.
- Familiarity with network hardware such as Ethernet switches and associated software for such hardware peripherals.
- Experience in board bring-up, BSPs, or driver integration for SoCs is preferred.
- Understanding of performance optimization and system profiling techniques.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with virtualization and domain communication in hypervisor-based systems (e.g., QNX Hypervisor, Android GVM).
- Knowledge of secure boot, trusted execution environments, and memory protection.
- Familiarity with Yocto, Device Trees, and system configuration for embedded Linux.
- Understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity standards (ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434).
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Shell) for automation and validation.
- Experience with CAN and LIN transceivers, and associated software for such hardware peripherals.
- Exposure to automotive communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN).
