This position is the second level in our Estimating track, achieved after completion of BELFOR new hire training tasks.
About the role
You will create and manage estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Responsibilities include meeting with clients, developing competitive estimates using Xactimate software, managing work through completion, reviewing budgets, and communicating progress with clients and management. You will also review invoices and labor to ensure costs are included in monthly job costs. Upon completion of required BELFOR training, you will achieve the appropriate Estimator title.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain local area clientele, primarily insurance adjusters, but also business owners, schools, and municipalities.
- Create accurate floor plans in Xactimate Sketch.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Create and adhere to acceptable budgets, addressing overages as they arise.
- Use the BELFOR naming convention for estimates, revised estimates, proposals, change orders, etc.
- Maintain a construction schedule and collaborate with trades and management to ensure timely completion.
- Identify and present solutions when additional resources are needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency with source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, contents, and deodorization techniques.
- Perform investigative demolition, controlled demolition, decontamination, structure cleaning, and deodorization services.
- Participate in continued training with BELFOR University, including Xactimate training for certification.
- Independently manage your own work.
- Maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, and serviceability.
- Complete all accident, injury, and incident reporting forms promptly.
- Assist in developing and improving BELFOR’s industry standards.
- Comply with company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Develop and maintain a client book of business based on role requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for owners, adjusters, and consultants.
- Handle scope development, negotiation, and agreements with customers.
- Use BELFOR’s standard formatting for estimates.
- Coordinate after-hours emergency services, including board-ups, water damage, fire and smoke damage, and vandalism.
- Consistently identify potential site hazards (asbestos, lead paint, mold, etc.).
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times.
- Be proactive in conveying information and responsive to requests.
- Apply industry TPA Program standards and ensure compliance.
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
- Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.
Requirements
- English literacy and fluency.
- Understanding of MSDS Data sheets and their applicability to jobs.
- Use of BELFOR Estimate Format Standards for Xactimate estimates and proposals.
- Extensive customer service experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience with Xactimate.
- Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent telephone skills.
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional interactions with co-workers and vendors.
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting of over 50 lbs unassisted.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
- The ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary.
