Estimator (Construction)

About the role

This position integrates with the overall Project Teams to provide timely budget information for the design and management of projects. Meow Wolf creates immersive and interactive experiences that transport audiences into fantastic realms of story and exploration.

Responsibilities

• Generate initial project budget estimates, update estimates during the design phases, and compile post-mortem cost summaries after project completion.
• Negotiate changes to the Scope of Work during the construction/installation phase.
• Provide detailed estimates for facility, show art, and soft costs.
• Determine labor, material, and equipment costs for self-performed work.
• Collaborate with cost consultants and in-house show estimating teams.
• Research market conditions and local means and methods.
• Develop location cost factors and escalation factors.
• Aid Finance and Project Teams in establishing budgets and tracking actuals against estimates/budgets.
• Create value-engineering ideas to mitigate cost overruns.
• Compile overall project summaries on cost at the conclusion of a project.
• Maintain comprehensive risk registers and schedule/cost risks analysis to inform the Project Team.
• Collaborate with the Project Controls group to develop scope documents, WBS, cost control and forecasting analyses, asset cost allocations, and collect historical data.

Requirements

• 5+ years on-site construction with a focus on estimating in the construction and/or themed entertainment industries.
• Show estimating experience.
• Experience in domestic multi-faceted projects.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Relationship building – works closely with senior management, creative leaders, and designers, finance, and project controls.
• General understanding of business drivers and market conditions.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proven track record in meeting aggressive schedules.
• High level of confidentiality and good judgment.
• Knowledge of risk management and analysis systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree (preferred).

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm MT or 10am to 6pm MST – occasionally requiring flexibility to work during evenings or weekends based on business needs, as well as travel to off-site locations depending on the role and need.
