Essential Duties

  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Consult with vendors to discuss formulate estimates.
  • Prepare estimates for the purpose of planning and scheduling work.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors and/or subcontractors including assisting the Purchasing Department as needed.
  • Review material and labor requirements to determine most cost effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Prepare quotes and sales orders for special situations and customer requests.
  • Team-lead for all government jobs and projects.
  • Primary user for BidNet software.
  • Search BidNet for all related government projects that Yates bids on.
  • Cook with government agencies, buyers, inspectors to process all government solicitations.
  • Serve as a backup to the Purchasing Agent and New Manufacturing / Repair Estimators as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities: Mechanically inclined Ability to read a tape measure. Familiar with both micrometers and caliper measuring tools. Ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of how seals hold pressure. Ability to assemble/disassemble cylinders, dry test, evaluate and check for dimensions for accuracy. Self-motivated Ability to understand written instructions. Ability to print drawings to perform job completion with minimal supervision.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
