Estimator

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for general HVAC and piping systems from plans and specifications.
• Prepare complete and accurate bid packages, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Review project drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify the full project scope.
• Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate subcontractor and vendor quotes.
• Cook up coordination with project management and field teams to ensure estimates reflect current labor rates and productivity standards.
• Maintain organized bid files and historical cost data for future reference.
• Participate in scope review meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs as required.
• Support value engineering, design/build efforts, and alternate pricing requests.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience performing general HVAC and piping takeoffs with a mechanical contractor.
• Demonstrated proficiency in HVAC and piping system takeoffs.
• Strong understanding of mechanical construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, mechanical plans, and specifications.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Able to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements, union labor agreements, and the local subcontractor market.
• Experience estimating large commercial, institutional, or high-rise construction projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management software.
