Estimator

About the role

Fortune-Johnson General Contractors is seeking an Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline, 2+ years of construction estimating experience, and a thorough understanding of historical costs and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Sending requests for proposals
• Following up with subcontractors to ensure bids are received, reviewed, and analyzed in a timely manner
• Tracking and reviewing subcontractor bid packages
• Completing material take-offs for all building materials purchased directly
• Understanding logistical and/or cost impacts to the budget of details and materials specified
• Completing estimates in Timberline
• Creating strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and operations
• Staying up to date on market and industry trends

Requirements

• Computer skills, including proficiency in Timberline, Cortex, Bluebeam, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proactive and works with a sense of urgency
• Strong relationships and partnerships with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and development teams
• Effective communication skills, including strong attention to detail, and ability to help facilitate meetings
• Leader and company team player
• Maintains focus while working in a high-level, fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Experience in local trade contractor market
• Prior construction field experience

Skills

• Knowledge of construction materials and processes
