Estimator

About the role

The Estimator at Arrow Building Center, Lampert Lumber and Lyman Lumber Companies, divisions of US LBM, plays a crucial role in providing accurate estimates for home construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code.
• Aid salesmen with customer orders and materials lists.
• Assist in trim take-offs as needed.
• Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
• Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
• Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
• Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
• Work on sales/hardware counter as assigned.
• Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.
• 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
• Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
• Operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs.
• Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
