About the role

The Estimator position at Tarkett Sports is based in West Linn, Oregon. Reporting to the President at Benchmark Construction, the role involves managing complex and dynamic projects, growing with the company, and preparing cost estimates for construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the Design process, establish preliminary budgets and conduct construction document reviews.
  • Analyze blueprints and other project documentation to prepare time, cost, and material estimates.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and build bid estimates, adjusting estimates for project scope changes.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and material proposals for completeness of scope.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and proposed work scopes.
  • Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
  • Prepare thorough documentation files for handover to the Operations department.

Requirements

  • Desired Experience: 3+ years as an Estimator or a related bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of sitework experience.
  • Project Evaluation & Estimation: Expertise in evaluating and estimating projects, integrating schedules, and engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Contract Knowledge: Strong understanding of various contract types, including hard-bid/lump-sum, cost-plus, and guaranteed-maximum price (GMP).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents using Bluebeam Revu.
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate to expert-level proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and cost estimating software.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with bid distribution platforms like Procore.

Qualifications

  • Experience in vertical building estimation is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Experience in athletic projects is a plus.
