Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD files, and technical specifications to determine project requirements.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for fabrication projects, including material, labor, equipment, and processing costs.
- Analyze manufacturing processes such as cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly during the estimation process.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve project-related questions.
- Prepare and submit detailed quotations and proposals for customers.
- Track outstanding quotations and provide follow-up support for business development activities.
- Compare estimated costs with actual project performance and assist in improving estimation accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating, preferably within sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, and finishing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, or estimating software is an advantage.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Hands-on experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
