Estimator

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Develops cost estimates on individual parts and updates MRP system accordingly.
• Reviews customer drawings and documents and understands scope of work to bid.
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to estimate costs.
• Review existing cost components and planning for improvement.
• Obtains pricing for materials.
• Obtains bids from subcontractors and outside process vendors.
• Prepares cost analysis in computer by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the manufacture of items.
• Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered.
• Mechanical estimating and/or planning experience with manufacturing operations is preferred.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills: ability to read, comprehend and work from written and verbal instructions.
• High school diploma or GED; prefer minimum two years technical school certificate.
• Must have good mathematical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and ability to interpret graphs and charts.
• Able to be detail oriented and able to multi-task several functions.
• Able to organize work to optimize efficiency.
