Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in construction (HVAC / mechanical strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Experience in HVAC systems, mechanical construction, or MEP estimating preferred
- Multifamily HVAC estimating experience is a strong plus
- Residential or commercial HVAC estimating experience will be considered
- MEP estimating experience (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) is highly valued
- Proficiency with estimating tools and construction software (Bluebeam preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present and defend estimates
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required)
- Certifications in estimating or project management are a plus but not required
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and scope documents to develop accurate cost estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field leadership to gather complete bid information
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for HVAC/mechanical systems
- Develop and submit competitive, well-structured project bids and proposals
- Analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and profitability
- Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and bid documentation
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities during preconstruction
- Participate in internal bid reviews and project handoff meetings
- Support negotiation efforts with vendors, subcontractors, and clients as needed
- Stay current on industry pricing trends, labor costs, and material fluctuations
- Provide mentorship and support to junior estimating staff when applicable
