Estimator
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and evaluate Request for Proposal (RFP) documents provided by customers.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) power projects, including quantities, man-hours, and costs for all project components.
- Work with in-house engineering and procurement teams to solicit, obtain, and evaluate meaningful vendor and subcontractor pricing for estimate inputs.
- Develop and foster relationships with key subcontractors.
- Evaluate bidding risks and strategies, present estimates, and participate in bid reviews with the business development department and senior management.
- Contribute to the proposal effort through drafting of clarifications, review of proposal drafts, and completion of customer pricing forms.
- Attend and actively participate in proposal and estimate review meetings with senior management.
- Work with the procurement department to maintain accurate and timely commodity cost databases.
- Perform various internal analyses and studies to find better solutions and maximize bid accuracy.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of construction experience and 2 years of estimating experience, preferably in heavy industrial or power plant construction.
- Experience may include a combination of several of the following: cost estimating, project management, proposal writing, scheduling, and/or procurement.
- A bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong quantitative aptitude and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work productively both independently and when collaborating with others.
