The Estimator plays a critical role in the success of complex construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids are prepared. This position demands strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of materials and pricing for drywall projects. The Estimator will lead the preparation of bids while managing vendor outreach and negotiations. The fast-paced environment requires adaptability and a commitment to quality and detail. Responsibilities
Leading the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive bids for complex projects
Performing comprehensive quantity takeoffs, advanced pricing analysis, and risk assessments using estimating tools
Managing vendor and subcontractor outreach and negotiations to secure competitive pricing
Maintaining compliance with estimating SOPs and ensuring quality control of bid documents
Driving continuous improvement in estimating processes and mentoring Assistant Estimators
Developing pricing strategies, labor productivity analysis, and material escalation forecasts
Validating subcontractor bids and reconciling against internal estimates
Leading bid preparation for large-scale projects, ensuring completeness and competitiveness
Coordinating internal bid reviews and presenting final proposals to leadership
Performing risk assessments on scope gaps, schedule impacts, and market conditions
Identifying value engineering opportunities and proposing cost-saving alternatives
Negotiating subcontractor pricing and terms
Escalating major risks or deviations to the Director of Estimating
Requirements
2+ years of proven experience leading bids on interior commercial drywall projects with project sizes around 1-2M
Experience with OST, Quick Bid, and/or BuzzBid is required
Strong ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs across multiple trades
Demonstrated experience in subcontractor and vendor outreach, bid leveling, and negotiations
Ability to analyze pricing, labor productivity, and material costs to build reliable estimates
Understanding of materials and pricing for drywall projects
Experience reviewing and validating subcontractor bids against internal estimates
Strong understanding of construction drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications
Ability to identify risk, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities
Experience leading full bid processes, including coordinating internal reviews and final submissions
Knowledge of contract requirements and client bid compliance standards
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality control and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
Confident communicator, comfortable presenting estimates and recommendations to leadership
Construction Management Degree is preferred
