About the role
The Estimating Manager at LF Driscoll, part of the STO Building Group, is responsible for developing and preparing construction cost estimates for healthcare-focused projects. This role involves supporting the project team with updated cost information, leading a team of estimators, and managing project budgets.
Responsibilities
- Ensure "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered through honest, unified, safe, and high-quality work.
- Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
- Maintain and monitor project budgeting and buy-out processes to ensure reliable information for estimates.
- Facilitate communication of cost history to continuously evaluate pricing information for better cost modeling and estimating.
- Monitor planning support processes to optimize resource usage.
- Interface with marketing to integrate all relevant information, issues, and brand recognition.
- Afford new scope of services and profit centers by overseeing all business development activities.
- Monitor productivity and cost control on healthcare projects.
- Attend and facilitate project review meetings to resolve budget issues.
- Plan and implement training for healthcare estimators.
- Evaluate, plan, and execute new scope of services and profit centers.
- Identify and procure profitable projects by managing all business development activities, including customer relationships, networking, public relations, maintaining a client database, and executing client matrices.
- Manage sales activities, including lead identification and qualification, procurement strategies, proposal development, response to RFQs, SOQs, and RFPs.
- Establish goals, procedures, systems, and tools for estimating tasks.
- Participate in the project procurement process for healthcare projects.
- Supervise estimating activities and personnel, taking responsibility for the team's successes and failures.
- Work with Business Unit Executives, Estimating and Planning Support Personnel, and clients.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare construction.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Problem-solving skills, including defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Proficient in using personal computers, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
- Experience with CMiC preferred.
- Knowledge of estimating software preferred.
